Intamac Home Manager ensures police continue remain available to attend real alarm activations

Friends, family and neigbours can now be alerted initially by text, email or phone to reduce incidence of false calls

Northampton, September 7th 2007: As more and more conventional alarm systems are being fitted in the UK to deal with increasing fear of burglary, physical threat and doorstep aggression, police forces around the UK are reducing the amount of false alarm calls to which they are willing to respond.

The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) recently revised its Policy on Police Response to Security Systems with the aim of reducing the number of monitored intruder false alarm calls that are passed to the Police.  The Metropolitan and City of London Police, for instance, have reduced of the threshold of the number of false alarm calls from intruder alarms before police support is withdrawn from a maximum of seven to a maximum of three.

Permanent response withdrawal

In the case of intruder alarms, if no action is taken within six months of withdrawing response the Police will withdraw the facility to attend the premises where the alarm is activated permanently.  To regain Police response from this point, a system must be upgraded to the latest specification and a completely new application made to the police for a Unique Reference Number (URN). A payment is required for this to happen.  In the case of personal attack alarms installed in premises, the Police currently allow two false alarms in a rolling 12-month period.   If the Police receive more than two false alarms they will withdraw attendance until all other Personal Attack devices are disconnected from the system.

The Intamac alternative

As an alternative, Intamac Systems can offer homeowners and business owners a monitoring service that alerts initially friends, family and neighbours day via phone, email or text rather than the Police.   Winner of the UK Security Excellence awards, the Intamac Home Manager is a revolutionary intelligent, yet inexpensive self-install, web-based alarm monitoring and messaging service.  It alerts up to six nominated contacts whenever an alarm is triggered so ensuring that somebody will always be available to respond and notify the authorities of necessary.

Monitor your home or business remotely from your phone or PC

Such is the flexibility of Home Manager that users can even customise their service to include inexpensive web cams that enable them to remotely monitor their home or business, from any internet connected PC or MMS-enabled phone, at any time.

If additional support is required, Intamac also offers a 24-hour automated manned response through its partnership with Group 4 Securicor. As such, homeowners are able to leave their keys and alarm PIN codes with Group 4 Securicor. If the alarm is activated a guard will secure the property from the inside and reset the alarm, contacting the emergency services if required.

Not only is Home Manager designed to provide protection from potential crime it also allows the home or business owner to remotely manage and monitor in real time the progress of other events that could occur on their premises every.  Events such as:

  • When children are home safely from school: Home Manager enables parents to get an alert at work when their child arrives home from school and turns the house alarm system off using their personalised PIN code.
  • When an authorised visitor – for instance a tradesperson, cleaner, nanny or au pair is in the home or business: Home Manager enables a temporary PIN to be activated in order grant access for authorised individuals.  The system allows the user to monitor at what time, on what date and for how long the event occurred. The system alerts instantly should an unauthorised individual enter the property.
  • Potential hazards and costly damage:  Home Manager links water and smoke detectors, allowing property owners to respond quickly to flooding or fire when away from the location.
  • Support of independent living: With the Safe@Home feature, Home Manager can monitor normal movement of an elderly or dependent family member within the home, and notify you if routines do not occur by a specified time each day.

“It’s unsurprising that given the growth in crime and the consequent installation of conventional alarm systems the police are reducing the number of false alarms to which they will respond before withdrawing cover,” comments Kevin Meagher, CEO of Intamac Systems. “The Intamac Home Manager Service focuses on alerting people that the home or business owner trusts in the event of an emergency, allowing them to assess the situation, calling the authorities only if necessary and so ensuring the Police are able to make better use of their resources and focus on real incidents.”
