What is Home Monitoring?

Mrs Smith’s most precious assets are her home and family and she wants to protect them. She wants to buy a security system but finds them expensive and inflexible.
“Alarm companies want on average £500 plus an additional £29.95 a month to monitor and maintain the system. It is too expensive, I don’t want wires routed round the house, and saving just £21 a year on my contents insurance is not enough to encourage me to buy one. What really sold it to me was the level of protection. There were alerts for fire, flood, or if the power to the house failed - it could even text them when the kids got home from school. The biggest surprise though were the prices with the basic kit costing less than £200 and the web monitoring and messaging from just £5 per month. I just didn’t realise all this was possible”.
